Conservative councillor Bob Bowdler, the Armed Forces Champion for East Sussex, is among those working to make the UK the best place in the world to be a veteran.
Cllr Bowdler met Armed Forces Minister, Johnny Mercer, at the annual conference of the Veterans Trauma Network (pictured).
The Network provides specialist care and treatment to veterans who have physical health problems as a result of their time in the armed forces. It works from 13 Veterans Trauma Centres and four specialist centres
Addressing the conference, Mr Mercer said: “The number one challenge for veterans seeking help in this country remains navigating the various options available, and understanding the offers of help they receive.”
He pledged to resolve these issues “in quick time and launch a clear pathway for physical veterans care across the United Kingdom”.
In conclusion, Mr Mercer told the audience: “Everybody has a role to play in that national duty - not mine or a few of us here - but that national duty towards this country’s armed forces veterans.”
