Conservative county councillor in Seaford, Sam Adenij, announces exciting news for residents about improved GP services in the town and in neighbouring Newhaven.
Working closely with the local Conservative MP, Maria Caulfield, Cllr Adeniji is delighted that the plans to bring both GP practices in Newhaven into the town centre and taking up part of the old Co-op building are progressing well.
The Governments' Future High Streets Fund of £7 million is being used to fund this and to bring more businesses into Newhaven. Being able to provide brand new facilities for both Quayside and Chapel Street surgeries will mean they will be able to see more patients and take on more staff and offer more services. They will also provide vital footfall to the town centre to boost local businesses.
In Seaford, Cllr Sam Adeniji and the MP met with the team from Old School surgery who are expanding their practice to take on the Shore Bar and will be renovating the building in the new year to be able to provide more surgery space and appointments. Since their Portacabins had to be removed they have struggled to find the space to see patients and this new facility will help them and Seaford Medical Practice expand their services.
In the long term, Conservatives are still working toward a new medical hub and a proposal for this is being looked at now. Local GPs want to be able to see patients face-to-face but they do need the space and facilities to do so. Rest assured that your Conservative councillor and MP are doing all they can to help them.
