Councillor Peter Pragnell, Chairman of the County Council, has sent this letter to His Majesty King Charles III.
Dear Sir,
On behalf of the Council and the residents of East Sussex, please allow me to extend our heartfelt condolences to Your Majesty and all members of the Royal Family. We are deeply saddened at the news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.
Since taking on the monumental task of sovereign the Queen has embodied duty, dignity, diplomacy and compassion, with her tireless charity work and dedication to her role in an ever-changing world.
A Book of Condolence has been opened at County Hall, Lewes, and the completed book will be stored at The Keep, Brighton, which Her Majesty, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, most graciously opened in October 2013.
I have the honour to be, Sir, Your Majesty’s humble and obedient servant.
