Matthew is the county councillor for: Chailey, Barcombe, Hamsey, East Chiltington, Newick and Wivelsfield
He was first elected as the County Councillor for Chailey in the May 2021 East Sussex County Council Elections.
Chailey is a large rural division which consists of six parishes; Chailey, Barcome, Hamsey, East Chiltington, Newick and Wivelsfield.
Matthew's academic background is in media and communications. He attended Chailey School and continues to have a relationship with them as the County Councillor.
Matthew is a champion of the villages he represents and works hard to protect their character and heritage, whilst also campaigning for improvements on issues such as road safety.
He has a particular passion for Children's Services; his mother has been a foster carer for over 20 years, and he is proud to serve on the Corporate Parenting Panel which oversees the looked after children of East Sussex.
